Hire good people and get out of their way

In today's NY Times, Arthur Blank, who co-founded The Home Depot and has owned the Atlanta Falcons for seven years, is quoted as saying the hardest part of owning a pro sports franchise isn't the off-the-field stuff, but the on-the-field piece:

“Have you ever seen a playbook? When you see a playbook, you realize that it takes a lot to understand the game. What football executives know, I’ll never know. The best I can do on the football side is make sure we have the best people and get out of their way.”
