Spent the weekend down in San Diego for the 25th anniversary of USD's NCAA Tourney team. Just about the entire team made it back for the event, including our coach, the great Jim Brovelli (pictured here).It was Coach Bro who, in 1984, used 6-foot-7 small forward Mike Whitmarsh as a "point forward." Whit was our starting SF, but ran our offense since our starting PG, John Prunty, was more of a shooter. Looking back, Coach Brovelli was way ahead of his time...
[Whitmarsh, by the way, went on to win a Silver Medal at the 1996 Olympics and had a long career as a professional beach volleyball player.]
Great seeing Coach Brovelli and the guys. Lots of good memories.
