When you don't communicate, people tend to do their own thing

Ten-year NBA vet Lamar Odom recently talked to his Laker teammates about "the importance of improved communication, something he says has been lacking recently."

"I told them our communication the last four or five games on the second unit has been bad. When you don't communicate, people tend to do their own thing. I told them we've got to communicate a lot more, get better at talking to one another. We're poor at it right now. We just have to police each other, as far as our approach to the game, our demeanor."

According to this article, Lakers coach Phil Jackson talked with Odom about leading LA's second unit, which "seemed to spin out of control at times last week."

Said Coach Jackson:

"I've asked Lamar to take a bigger leadership role. I know he's got some wild guys out there with him at times and it's hard for him because he's off the ball, but just to kind of have that influence on the floor so they're looking to him to organize them is something we're trying to do."
